NOAN gives you powerful control over your brand’s voice, letting you set both an overarching brand tone and flexible, situation-specific tones for different communications. Here’s how to make the most of these features:
1. Set Your Overarching Brand Tone
Where:
Navigate to the Brand Stack and find the Brand Tone fact.
How:
- In the Brand Tone fact, describe your brand’s overall voice. This is the default tone for all your brand communications.
- Not sure how to define it?
- Option 1: Ask the NOAN Assistant to assess your website and suggest a tone based on your current content.
- Option 2: Upload any existing brand tone documents and ask the Assistant to extract and summarize your tone.
- Language Note:
- If you use non-American English (e.g., British spelling), specify this in your Brand Tone fact. This ensures consistency across all content generated by NOAN.
2. Create Custom Tones for Specific Scenarios
Where:
Go to your Account Settings under your project, then select Tone, Style, and Language.
How:
- Here, you can create as many custom tones as you need for different types of communication (e.g., investor updates, customer retention, partner outreach).
- When creating a tone:
- Choose any language or style, including secondary languages if you communicate with different markets.
- Add clear instructions for how you want this tone to sound and be used.
- Quick Tip:
- Paste a sample of your preferred content into the Assistant and ask it to analyze and replicate the tone. Refine as needed, then save it as a new custom tone.

How:
- When working with the Assistant, use the Tone Switcher to select the desired tone before generating a response.
